Surprising casual eatery right on Main St. Vancouver... tasty food options, awesome beverages and great service... bonus wine... area and very knowledgeable wine steward! We ordered the crab/lobster benedict and the chicken w/waffles... all delicious! Wewill be back!! Read more
The wife and I were in the mood for a steak so we figured we would try this place out. We went for an early dinner, so the place... was slow and quiet which was nice. The service was friendly and quick. We got a couple of drinks from the extensive drink andbeer menu and each ordered the Filet Oscar. When the food came it looked delicious. But it wasn't. The potatoes were cold andlumpy. The crab/lobster topper was flavorless. And the filets were basically inedible. They were tough and grisly and had nobeef taste at all. We didn't eat much of it. Been here before a couple times, but, I'm glad we came this time, it seems like a new menu, or at least updated! I had the steak... bites with mushrooms small plate, it was so good! We also had the Uptown Louie from the salad selection, also very good! It washard to choose what to have, but, we'll definitely go back to try some of the steaks listed. There are choices for pizza,calzone, wings and lots more! They also have an impressive brunch menu served on Friday, Saturday and Sunday as well as a nicelunch only menu 11am-4pm. So my boyfriend and I decided to do our date night on a Wednesday. And he wanted pizza and I wanted a chill atmosphere with... quality food but not over priced. I was immediately drawn to the positive reviews of Uptown Barrel Roon. So first, when wearrived we were greeted with a friendly host or sever. We chose to sat at the bar. Attentive and friendly service from Randy, Ibelieve. She was great! I ordered a watermelon refresher and a lavender drink. Both from their seasonal cocktail list that hadvodka. And both was refreshing for a very hot 100 degree weather. It was nice to watch sports on the big screen projector whilewe were waiting for our food. The atmosphere was very comfortable and chill. It felt very laid back but the place was clean andfood was good quality. Appetizer: Ahi Tuna This was melt in your mouth good. The Wasabi was hot and the sauce complimented theahi tuna well. Paired with coleslaw. Entrees: blackened salmon Caesar salad and combo pizza. I wanted a salad to offset how hotit was. And the salmon was cooked very well and to pair it with Caesar salad was so refreshing. I sometimes get concerned withplaces that over do it on their dressing but the dressing was just enough. My boyfriend enjoyed his combo pizza. But couldn'tfinish it so we were able to take it home. Dessert: pound cake I bit off more than I could chew. But since eveything was good,I couldn't help but order dessert. I got pound cake that was paired with ice cream and Marionberry I Think. I took a few bitesbut couldn't finish it. So I boxed it up to go and indulge it later. We enjoyed our spontaneous date night here! We definitelywill be making this one of our go to places. They also have decent size out door seating too. They have wine, beer on tap,bottled beers, Seltzers, and can make crafted cocktails. Their menu has variety but not too much where it's overwhelming. Been a minute. My whole family has had life interrupted by COVID for a couple weeks so I haven't hardly been out except for... necessity, but are finally getting back to normal. Not a fun bug, that's for sure. Been thinking I should have more veggiestoday, but I have had two Hawaiian papayas this week and a bunch of apples. Screw it, comfort food it is. I've had these braisedor roasted pork ribs, or however they're made, once before. Are they the best thing ever? No. Can you cut them with a fork andput some of that garlic mash on the same fork with it? Yes. Really it reminds me of something my mom would put in the oven andbe ready for dinner in the late 80s before she got sick. Definitely a callback to a different time, at least for me. Accompaniedby my usual bourbon sour and also an old fashioned tonight because Basil Hayden just sounded good. It's just a really pliableand smooth spirit, bourbon or otherwise.
