Moving from Toronto, Canada, our family has been on the hunt for some good donuts....no, great donuts. After attempting to buy... donuts twice and met with closed doors, finally got in early enough today and picked up 6. Cake donut with cinnamon sugar,blueberry jelly donut, salted caramel, Bavarian cream, apple fritter and classic chocolate raised. These have been the bestdonuts we've had so far in this area and will definitely be back. One of the things we loved about them was that they aren'tsickeningly sweet like much of baked goods are. We've been getting donuts from Dot's for a few years now and I have to say after trying most, if not all, the donut spots on... Vancouver this is the BEST place to get donuts! They're also the best donut place I've been to overall. They are so fluffy andsoft but hold the density you expect from a donut. They rotate between seasonal flavors so there's always something new to try.We've never had a bad donut from them and any time family comes in to visit we go out of our way to pick them up for a yummybreakfast treat. I really don't understand all of the rave reviews. These aren't traditional donuts. I can't put my finger on exactly what's... wrong, but the dough isn't right in either texture or flavor and the icing is more like frosting, which is SUPER weird. Ifyou're looking for a normal donut, you won't find one here. If a baker had never heard of a donut before and someone describedit to them, but didn't give them an actual recipe, these donuts would be what they created. It's close, but it's just not right.
