Really had high hopes from all the positive reviews. Planning a party & wanted to try 1911 bbq as a possible caterer. Visited... Saturday 7/9 around 6:15pm. Called in for takeout. The woman who assisted me was super nice. Ordered about $90 worth of food.The little bit of everything (full) with Yams & baked beans. Added pulled pork, seasonal veggies, collard greens, Mac n cheese,& coleslaw. The Good - the Brisket was moist, well cooked and seasoned. The baked beans were a nice surprise, the green pepperreally improved the flavor. Collard Greens were also well prepared & flavorful. The chicken was nicely smoked & flavorful (buton the dry side). Pulled pork was decent, but very wet. Yams were ok. Underseasoned & like many items we received lookednothing like pictures others had shared. The Bad - we didn't get the Cole Slaw we ordered. The Ribs were like rubber! Totallyinedible. Not sure if they were boiled, left in a steamer to long, or reheated to many times (in a microwave?). Totally wreckedthe meal. Mac n cheese was dry and lacked flavor. The seasonal veggies appeared to be steamed, like the mixed steamed in a bagbroccoli, carrots, & cauliflower you get at the supermarket. Friendly staff, nice and homey decor. Tried their Brisket Sandwich. Pretty tender. Add their special BBQ sauce to really bring... out the flavor of this Sandwich. Will try their ribs next time I'm in the area of Trenton. Read more
I ordered a chicken and rib combo with a side of avocado bites and was charged $49 and some change. Unbeknownst to me they added... gratuity to my take out order even though the menu clearly states it?s supposed to be added to dine in orders. When I got home Irealized that the receipt was for a side of baked beans; however, I didn?t get the beans or the avocado bites. I called back andasked to speak with a manager and some nasty, rude woman claimed to be one. I explained what the situation was and she overtalked me and insisted that I got my sides. At some point she realized that the bag was still in the restaurant and she tried toget me to come back to pick it up. I asked for the item to be removed. The next thing I know, I was talking to another personwho was none the wiser why she was handed the phone because that wench hadn?t bothered telling her anything either. The secondwoman I spoke with was professional. She took my information and said that she?d forward it to her boss. I questioned whygratuity was added and was told that it?s added to all orders. It should also be noted that when I used my card it asked forgratuity as well. So this restaurant is sneakily double charging customers twice. Lastly, my food had no sauce, no smoke flavor,nothing to help things along. I can?t recommend this restaurant at all.
