What a treat! So many details to give this place an authentic '50s diner ambiance, from music to floors, booths and tables. The... menu is extensive, to include Angus burgers, chicken, onion rings, fries with optional seasonings, many ice cream-based treats,even salads and a few cocktails. The service was friendly, our food came very quickly, and it was quite delicious! It wasspic-and-span clean, too! According to the staff, this is a Kansas-only chain. Very glad we gave it a try! Traveling through Topeka and found this joint via Google "restaurants near me" search. 50's themed with photos and memorabilia... lining the walls and a life-size Elvis statue is a restaurant center piece. Food was good and very reasonably priced. We eachgot a $5.95 menu special that includes a hamburger, fries, drink and a Mudslide, which is an ice cream treat of vanilla icecream covered in the dipped cone hard chocolate and a choice of a variety of toppings...YUM! Super cool concept. Loved that the kids meal comes with a big oreo ice cream sandwich and love the 50's theme and music. It... would be a lot better if the meat on their burgers was not those frozen rubbery like patties with no flavor. If they actuallymade smashburgers with enough salt and pepper or some other seasoning to be tasty it'd be nearly perfect. They also had freshsugared mini donuts that were really good and the caramel sauce on the side was the best dipping sauce in my opinion. It wouldalso help if they fixed their air conditioning as it was extremely hot and uncomfortable in the dining room. Read more
Another great example of a fantastic Spangles restaurant! We ate there Sunday evening. We were on the west side of the dining... room where the big round tables are, so our entire family could sit together. It would have been nice to have blinds that couldbe lowered. They always have great food! Seeing all the cool retro deco is pretty neat. Read more
