Funky but tasty Izakaya. First the atmosphere. The thing you will notice is the shouting of Japanese pleasantries, but by... Americans. Next is the Anime projected on a brick wall. But the one that amused us the most was a Japanese Butsudon (alter)populated by Power Rangers. Not sure it's appropriate, but it fit the vibe here. Next, the food. On the happy hour menu is theTora Gozen set. It looks amazing and we liked the selection. The fish was good and the fried chicken was also good. The onecritique is that the fried items had a thicker better. Would have preferred a tempura batter. We liked the Brussel Sproutsappetizer, the miso soup, the Agedashi tofu and we especially enjoyed the Veggie Roll. The finish consisted of a Ho-ji TeaBrulee. It was delicious. The service was good, they definitely made an effort to help is out and provide guidance. Overall agood experience. In my bookmarks should I be back in Seattle one day soon. Read more

On a Saturday evening, we had dinner at Tamari Bar. It was a nice night and we were surprised they weren't serving outdoors. Our... server Kodey C. was attentive. For drinks, my parents shared a House Sake, my boyfriend had a Shimai Toshi Brewing Yuzu HazyIPA, and I enjoyed Yuzu Mocktail. For appetizers, we ordered the Chicken Karaage, which consisted of fried chicken topped withbonito flakes and served with a tartar sauce. We love how crispy, tender, and flavorful the Chicken Karaage was, we orderedanother order of it. The second order wasn't as good as the first one. For dinner, we shared the BBQ Beef Udon, Tamari BarSushi Roll, and 7 Kind Sashimi. The BBQ Beef Udon consisted of udon stir fried with cabbage, carrot, zucchini, and wagyu tendonbeef in a sweet and savory BBQ sauce served in a hot stone bowl. The Tamari Bar Sushi Roll consisted of cucumber roll toppedwith lightly seared sushi, topped with ikura, tobiko, miso aioli, and sesame soy sauce. The 7 Kind Sashimi consisted of 7 kindsassorted sashimi on spiral staircase. This included three kinds of tuna, two kinds of salmon, shrimp, and scallop. We finishedour meal with a Ho-Ji Tea Brulee, which consisted of a Japanese green tea combined with roasted brown rice brulee, dusted withpowdered sugar. We were surprised it was served chilled! Fun evening with good, interesting food. The place is deservedly popular so make a reservation if you can plan ahead. We started... with garlicky edamame, roasted Brussels and bao three ways (crab, pork belly, chicken). All were excellent. I then had harakomeshi with a good amount of fish over very hot rice. My friend had a ginger non-alcoholic drink which had a spicy ginger tasteand I had a pint of my favorite, Kirin. Under $100 for us both with tip. Read more

Everything was great! The poutine was super flavorful and fun to share and those brussels sprouts are some of the best I've ever... had- super crispy with the perfect kick of lemon to finish them off. The udon noodles were also so comforting and that green oilis an express trip to flavortown, and loved all the vegetables paired with it. Forsure sit in their covered outdoor deck spaceif you can, it's so cozy there :) Read more

Max, our waiter, was phenomenal. We are visiting from Manhattan and he made our experience at Tamari Bar that much better. We... had previously thought we?d eaten some of the best sushi in the world before coming here. Wrong. This is the best Sashimi we?veEVER had. Read more
