Fun and funky decor combined with friendly service and seriously delicious food makes Acme Cafe a new favorite of mine.... Everything is homemade, including the jam, Hollandaise sauce and decadent baked goods. I love the repurposed bowling alley lanesfor counter tops and canning jar light fixtures! I will be back! I really like the ambiance of this nostalgic 1950's style diner. Unfortunately the food I have had there lately doesn't meet... expectations. The service was fine but there were only three patrons when I visited. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak. Thecottage fries were good, but the fried steak was way over cooked (see picture) and it didn't taste fresh- which might be why itwas overcooked. For $18, I was expecting much better quality food and preparation. Too expensive, bland overcooked food. Won't return. Read more
The New England clam chowder was really good. I also got the chicken with eggs benedict. The idea is better than the meal. ... There was just too much going on. The biscuits and fried chicken was too much for the hollandaise to come through. I've hadtheir eggs benedict before and it's really good, this, not as much. The wait staff was awesome as usual.
