We've had Basilisk on our "To Visit" list for a while now. Happy to have crossed it off our list. They've got a small menu... consisting of Fried Chicken Sandwich, Fried Tofu Sandwich, Fried Chicken Plate, DanDan Fries, and Salad. With a limited menuthey do these items well! We tried the Chicken Sandwich, DanDan Fries and the Poached Chicken Salad. The chicken was cookedperfectly with a nice crunch. The DanDan fries packed with flavor, quite unique with peanut sauce and cilantro. Basilisk isconnected to a "Food Hall" - which was cool to see other options as well. Read more

It's been a while since I've eaten here, but I still remember it as having one of the best chicken sandwiches I've ever eaten.... If you're in the area, check it out! Read more

Basilisk is part of a group of other restaurants in a shared dining area. Half of the dining area is indoors and the other half... is outdoors in a chill patio section. There are a lot of tables, but on a Monday evening almost all them were filled. Chickenburger - There were 3 to 4 pieces of fried chicken, on top of pickles and a saucy coleslaw. The chicken was nice and crispy butflavor wise it seemed just OK. I appreciated that they really loaded that chicken sandwich especially for the price point ofnine dollars but it was so tall that there was no way I could bite top to bottom all in one mouthful. I like how they used avery sturdy type of bread I?m not sure what it?s called but it was able to hold up even though there was so much contents inbetween. Coleslaw was kind of saucy and drip down my fingers onto the platter below. I found that I was left with a small massof coleslaw at the end of my meal. Ice cream - I was excited when I saw that Kool-aid packet on their menu so I was expectingsomething more sour. What I got instead was a vanilla based soft serve with some Kool-Aid flavoring but overall it was much moresweet than sour. They serve it in a regular cup so if you walk around while holding it it?ll probably melt near the end if youdon?t eat it quick enough. Overall it?s decent, But my favorite Portland fried chicken place is still LoRell?s. Read more

The chicken sandwich was good, but the Dan Dan fries stole the show. A perfect food. Great venue too

Came here after several recommendations from friends and family. We were recommended the honey habanero chicken sandwich by the... staff - I think that was the star between the regular chicken sandwich and the hot chicken plate. Great recommendation. Thechicken is light, tender and flavorful. It goes amazingly well with the pickles. I kick myself for moving away from Portland. Read more
