This Portland Restaurant lives up to all the compliments. They do not take reservations, people start lining up around 4:45pm as... the restaurant opens at 5:00pm. The staff is warm and friendly with quick attentive service. The wait staff is very detailed InSharing their unique menu and the amount of dishes a group of four should order. I give a lot of 5-star ratings. But a place like this is the real 5 stars -- and it's priced to match that claim. Cocktails:... lots of huge flavors and generously poured, atmosphere: loud, exciting, bright and open. Food: come on! It's fantastic. My wife and I had dinner at Toro Bravo tonight. We had the tasting menu and at $50 per person it was an excellent value. Each... course was interesting, inventive, and delicious. The first, dubbed a ?Spanish Kiss? (see menu for further description), wasparticularly surprising, flavorful, and fun. The total portion of food was maybe a bit much, but better to serve a little toomuch than not enough. We had a few different cocktails with our dinner and they were all nuanced and enjoyable. Our onlyquibbles were minor. The timing of the food courses was slightly erratic; sometimes we would get a quick succession of a fewdishes, and at other junctures we would wait a while between courses. Also, beverage service was a little slow and the overallservice was just a little awkward, but generally good and professional nonetheless. Those quibbles were easy to forgive in lightof the excellent, high value meal, however. Read more
