A former local bar until the late 90s now a Taiwanese restaurant/bar that makes the possibly the best Taiwanese style Dan Dan... Mein in the PNW. You can ask for extra spicy sauce; you could catch a sweat ???? The other menu options are tasty and all arelarge portions. Three dishes could easily satisfy 5 or 6 people. The Spicy Seafood Noodles are a great choice for the diner wholoves that combination. It's also obvious that the noodles are made to order for all the noodle dishes, which is an authenticancient Chinese style. ?????????? Read more

It's certainly not the ambiance that led me to 5 stars. It's dingy with bad lighting inside, with an even more dingy bar area... usually populated by a small handful of old drunks. So why am I giving it 5 stars? Straight up, the food is awesome. That's thewhole reason they have 4+ stars right now. Most of their clientele seems to be asian immigrants and their menu is overly longand has a lot of items that seem a bit unsuited to American palates. I don't know if that means it's more authentic but I doknow their recipes are absolutely top tier for chinese food in Portland. I wouldn't say it's necessarily better tasting thanShandong, which is hipsterized chinese food with somewhat higher quality ingredients and a bit different menu than you're usedto, but they absolutely nail the chinese food classics you're looking for and you can get some really interesting stuff if youwant to branch out. 3 Stars - Good: Spouse: "I'm hungry." Me: "Hold on; let me make..." Spouse: "Can we get Chinese?" Me: [no complaints] Comfort... food at its finest - at least, for me. This was our go-to in PDX when we were craving Chinese. We found them during COVID, so wedidn't actually eat there. However, they were a 9 minute walk from the house. Always good. Always. Super fast and large portions- too large for just me. I took my parents by when they visited PDX, and my mom still won't drop how good the sesame balls were.Give 'em a try. Recommendations: sesame balls, chow mein, beef miso (massive bowl that feeds 4ish) Read more

Nice find for us, although I'm sure the locals know all about this place. They are known for their noodles so of course I had... to try it. Was not disappointed! Ordered the Dan-Dan Mein Szechaun Sauce Noodles and absolutely loved the noodles. The saucewas ok (first time having it), wish it was a bit thicker. Can't wait to go back and try another dish!
