The Allegheny Sandwich Shop is by far one of the best lunch spots in all of Pittsburgh. Open till 2:30pm.Get there before 1:45... if you want to be seated. Their special which is a roast beef sandwich open faced with crisp French fries and a side of slaw isamazing!! Don't miss this place if you are in the North Side. Also they are closed on Mondays. This is one of the mainstays on Western Avenue in the Northside. This trip was my third.to this restaurant. The first was for... breakfast about a year ago; the second for lunch a few weeks ago. For the first trip, two eggs, bacon, home fries, toast and hottea were $11.95, a bit pricey. The waitress was excellent. She was very cheerful and responsive. The second trip was for lunchwith my friend. The waitress was excellent. Total bill came to about $26, which is pretty standard. The waitress was cheerfuland friendly. The third trip was for breakfast. The bill came to $31. Overall, I question the value proposition for breakfast(which is the basis for my 4 raring), but believe the value proposition for lunch is great. Read more

Great experience for our first visit! The staff and owner (I presume) were incredibly nice. We were the only ones sitting... outside and kind of out of the way but the staff were very prompt and friendly. The food itself was very delicious, but theservice itself makes us wanna go back! Read more
