Wheelfish is a local gem. Such an unassuming place from the outside but the barbecue is some of the best I?ve ever had and the... service from the staff is excellent. The pulled pork, mac and cheese, and corn muffins are always my go-to favorite items. Ican?t recommend highly enough. Read more

Oh my god. I'm in heaven. Great food. Great service. Great ambiance. So much to talk about; where to start? The wings are... smoked and then fried. I've never had anything like it; placing these as the best wings in a category of their very own. It'snot fair to compare these to other fried wings (but yes, they are better). We ordered six Spicy Cowboy. I haven't tried theother sauces, but I'm sold on this one. My main course, a half rack of ribs, were some of the best ribs I've ever had. Theywere juicy on the inside, came apart easily, but had a crunchy bark on the outside that exploded with flavor with everybite. The basic mac & cheese is somehow the best mac & cheese I've ever had at a restaurant? I'm honestly puzzled at this onesince it's a small side without any toppings. The macaroni noodles are cooked perfectly al dente, tossed in a unique, lightcheese sauce, creating this textured combination that makes your tongue dance for joy. Pulled pork egg rolls were crunchy andflavorful. Sweet potato fries were crispy, delicious, and sweet without being too sweet; we didn't even need to use the brownsugar dipping sauce. Our draft beers were fresh and tasty. The only thing we wouldn't order again are the tacos. They were kindof bland, boring, and fell right through the bottom of the shell when picked up. Kind of strange considering how well they doeverything else. This was a solid find for us. We will be back and bring everyone we know here. Read more

We were in town visiting friends who are locals and regulars at Wheelfish. What a treat! Excellent BBQ in a friendly place with... a definite local flavor. The live music with the Baxter Brothers was a plus! Where else are you going to find 1920s classicsplayed on a trumpet, trombone and accordion than in Pittsburgh? They do BBQ pretty well in NC but they don't do music like that. Read more

Wheelfish is a casual BBQ restaurant that is inside a distressed wooden building. Their menu lists appetizers such as pulled... pork nachos and quesadillas; entrees such as sandwiches, meats, and tacos; some sides such as corn muffins and sweet potatofries; some desserts; and some beers. Prices are moderate. My husband and I greatly enjoyed our chicken, ribs, kielbasa, pulledpork taco, brisket taco, grilled vegetables, macaroni and cheese, and French fries. The fried deviled eggs were OK to good. Asfor service, the waitress was very timely with seating us, taking our order, bringing out our food, and giving us the check. Shehad a very courteous personality. We appreciate that she suggested a sweet sauce for us and brought out a drink refill. Read more
