Of all the Asian restaurants we have tried in squirrel hill, this is my favorite. The food is hearty and really delicious. We... got the fried pork cutlet and authentic mushun pork among other things. It was so good that we didn't have any leftovers despitehaving ordered quite a lot of food for two people. I didn't get a chance to eat here when they were the Northeast Kitchen (old menu) but I have been super pleased with Jian's... Kitchen's menu and service! We ordered a huge meal for Lunar New Year takeout and the food was awesome. There were a coupleitems we originally ordered that ended up not being available but they called us to let us know and offered suggestions forsubstitutions-- and those were some of our favorite dishes! I really like that they offer some unique traditional options thatyou can't find at any of the (many) other Chinese restaurants in the neighborhood. Going to add to our regular rotation forsure! This was my first time having northeastern style Chinese food. I had the cumin lamb and the pork and cabbage dumplings. The... lamb was tender with juicy fat, and dish had tasty spices and heat.
