Best oysters in Pittsburgh, hands down. I'd stack them against any I've had along the Chesapeake Bay, as well. Don't let the... focused menu turn you away. We watched several groups come in, look at the menu, and leave. Critical mistake. Come in, soak upthe ambiance, and have the best oyster platter of your life. Read more

It had to be top three worst dining experiences in terms the quality of the food that I have ever had. The Crab cakes tasted... like no crab cake I ever had before, I ate 3 bites of 1 of the 2 cakes The coleslaw was bland and the New England clam chowdertaste fishy and was very watery. 2 stars bc the service and fries were good. For the folks on here who think think these are the best oysters they?ve ever had, I really don?t know what to say to them but... your standards must be really REALLY low. One said "better than the Chesapeake" LOL. Not sure how you can call yourself "TheOyster House" and you don't even serve them on the half shell! Absolutely 0 selections of oysters. The only ones they serve aretheir "shooters" (pictured). Abysmal. Took 1 and immediately spit it out into my napkin. We then proceeded to cancel the rest ofour apps and ask for the check. I asked the waitress if they were canned and she reassured me they were fresh. BUT why do youserve "fresh" oysters in a plastic ramekin? Our hotel down the street HIGHLY recommended this place but seems Pittsburgh ingeneral needs to up their oyster standards. Read more
