Bluntly, the maintenance of the establishment is sorely lacking. You get the feeling that the owners are running it into the... ground and have been for a half-century. Which is a shame because the menu and food are both really quite good, and the baritself is/was a nice vintage style. response to owner: I'm glad to hear you're going to replace the seat covers. They were soshredded it was impossible for you to have cleaned them in years. Hopefully you can afford a bucket of paint to cover the areaswhere the wallpaper has peeled off the walls (maybe from a poster being torn off?) in the booth to the right of thedoorway. Really really good-loved!!!!!! Ethically sourced foods - know of Two Rivers an so compliment Smiths for going the extra mile. ... Was looking for a nice dinner on short notice as so live this place. I've been going to Smith's for years, and love so many things about it (amazing wine prices - especially during happy hour,... amazing delicious food - including ethically sourced meat!, cozy English pub atmosphere, very reasonable food prices, etc) It's a long list of good things that make me want to come back. And, to add to the list, most of the service staff arefriendly wonderful people - except for one. There is a blonde female server, who I have had a few times, and every single time,she is rude, and acts like me being there is an inconvenience, and that her life would be better if I wasn't bothering her bybeing there (doesn't matter if the pub is busy or empty) She often avoids eye contact while you are talking to her, as if shecan't even bear to look at you. She never smiles at customers, that I have seen, but I do on very rare occasions see that shewill smile when talking to coworkers. I've tried to lighten the mood but she seems determined to be unhappy and rude, at alltimes, no matter what. I think I am a pretty nice and reasonable and friendly person, but this girl scares me and makes mefeel like I am unwelcome at Smith's. And it's just a real shame. Read more

Great spot with good beer options. We stopped in on a Monday right when they opened and had the place to ourselves. The... bartender (Will) was fantastic. He gave great advise on some places to see. Specifically he let us know about a place inChinatown called Fan Tan Alley. Read more
