Was very hungry and went in a little after 10 PM for dinner with my partner to Gons last night... one of the most disappointing... meals she and I have had in our lives. We order the Butter shrimp, their Premium Wagyu Tataki and pint of Asahi. The 6 piecesof batter fried shrimp came unseasoned and on bed of chunky sliced white onion...it had nothing going for it except maybe thatit was fried correctly. However, the most disappointing thing on the menu was their Wagyu Tataki which again came on bed onchunkily sliced onion. The "seared AAA beef" were in fact 6 thin slices of raw, tendinous, fibrous beef that definitely wasn'tWagyu and definitely wasn't AAA grade. Despite complaining to the server the management did nothing to address it. We areextremely tolerant customer, my partner who has worked in kitchen before always plays the devil's advocate when there are errorsat a restaurant but this was sheer neglect by the kitchen on so many levels... the whole experience especially the beef dishlacked effort, quantity, quality amongst other things. In fact I felt cheated for paying almost $20 for some raw, low grade,cheap cut of meat pretending to be Wagyu. If I wanted to each a platterful of chunky sliced, white onion for dinner then I wouldhave walked down to the Safeway and bought some. Please save your money and your taste buds. Ordered the Gons spicey red ramen and got it on level 3/6 but was actually quite spicy still. Plenty of food even though i... thought it was more expensive than necessary with limited customizability. Good customer service with decent ramen. Read more
