First time customer experience was good until I arrived at the shop. I ordered a Tomahawk steak over the phone a couple of days... earlier. The fellow I placed the order with couldn't have been nicer. When I came into the shop today to pick it up, the fellowthat served me had three steaks wrapped for me. When I told him I had only ordered one, he was a bit non-plused and selected onefor me to purchase. Frankly, I wasn't bothered by the attitude. Stuff happens. But what really rubbed me the wrong way wasbeing squarely pushed to leave at tip at check out. I'm sure the steak will be great, but that business at check out has left asour taste in my mouth. Highest quality at the best prices! These guys are great, very knowledgable and friendly. I just bought a huge cowboy steak... cured in Koji, an experiment one of the guys was trying out for fun on some beef they brought in to test from a ranch inKamloops. Everyone that worked there seemed nice but the guy that served me. I don't do butchers much (or at all) and like most people I... do Safeway or such but one of my favourite cuts, pork shoulder steak, is all but gone from most grocery stores so I checked thisplace out. Firstly when I asked for a shoulder steak the guy looked pretty annoyed as it was a something he had to cut and itwasn't just good to go. His annoyance seemed to increase the less I knew about what I wanted (it was the first time I was buyingit not pre packaged). Finally he was unable to hide his disdain upon finding out I was frying it (sorry kids, I live in a smallbox in Vancouver and am currently without a BBQ). Guys, you run a specialty butcher shop. We've just arrived in Kerrisdale / arbutus neighbourhood and we decided to go to this butchery. We're french and we didn't know... the exact names of pieces we wanted (hampe, onglet, bavette d'Aloyau) but the staff were very helpful and patient with us.
