The food is good, however you need to be careful here as some dishes are amazing, and some are total scam. Uni shooter and uni... don is nice, good quality and reasonably priced, same goes for the sushi platter. Wagyu is authentic and are not crazyexpensive. However, Chirashi is poorly made, the cuts are not uniform and some are tail part, which is chewy and not fit forsashimi. The yamayuzu sake, usually retail for 25-30cad, are sold 100 a bottle. The unagi don uses frozen unagi(usually 15cad),are sold for 60cad, is just outrageous. Read more

I won't lie, I ditched the kids to eat here and it was amazing (the food is amazing). Highly recommend coming here if you can... splurge! The sashimi is so fresh and sweet, definitely one of the best in Vancouver if not the best. The quality of all the foodhere are top notch and the taste is impeccable. Read more

First thing to know about Octopus' Garden is that its not cheap, especially after everything's gotten bumped up in price. For... example, the uni is $3 more per piece or the lobster motoyaki is $185 instead of $160. if you've got the money to spend or feellike treating yourself though this is one of my favorite places for Japanese food in Vancouver. I was disappointed at thechawanmushi last time I had here, as in my opinion they were overcooked (had bubbles at the edges of the cup and some parts ofit was just not as silky smooth as it should be) but this time the foie gras chawanmushi wowed me. I initially thought it wouldbe too rich for the steamed egg dish but the rendered fat actually worked really well with the perfectly cooked egg and addedeven more depth to the mushrooms and dashi infused in it. I also normally tend to love the more intense flavors of bluefin tunaor saba, but the art sashimi we had tonight included a few varieties of white fish(tends to be milder and more delicate inflavor) and I normally can't tell the flavors apart too well and need to rely on a difference in textures as well, butamazingly, this time each kind was distinct, flavorful and thoroughly enjoyable even without any soy sauce or Wasabi. Where do I even begin? The entire experience from booking the reservation to the complimentary sparkling sake (the Chef?s gift... to wish my cousin a happy wedding) was absolutely amazing. The restaurant ambience is unique with great attention to detail inthe decor. Very comfortable seating, extensive menu with several specials. We had tai tempura and the uni jewelry box (importedfrom Hokkaido - so sweet!!) to start as appetizers. I had the Art Sashimi (requested fish like himachi, kanpachi, shima-aji,Maguro and much more) which was beautifully arranged and so delicious. For dessert we had the cheesecake and strawberry daifuku. The waiting staff were incredibly attentive and timely with our orders. Our table also ordered a bottle of the Sansui Daiginjosake which was pleasantly smooth and warming. Highly recommended! The only issue is that parking is difficult to find but thereare parking garages/lots 5-8mins walk from the restaurant. Read more

This place is primo! I come here for the omakase menu, they have two price points and the photos attached to this review are... from the $200 menu. There are about 3-4 other plates I forgot to take photos of, as well as a desert, so you definitely leavehere filled to your hearts content. The omakase menu varies as well, but will always have a sashimi and nigiri platter. Thisrestaurant has been around for ages, I remember my first visit here 20 years ago! The servers are so lovely and informative. Amust for any sushi lover. I love Octopus Garden ???? Read more
