Happy Hour snacks at Brix and Mortar. Happy Hour runs from 4-6 pm, when available. There is a number of cocktails, draft beers,... wines, and bites on the HH menu. The dinner menu is available starting at 5 pm. I had the Wild Sockeye Salmon Bellies andTempura Tiger Prawns. Both were cooked perfectly and packed full of flavour. If I had to choose one to get again, I’d go withthe tiger prawns. Read more

When we had visited a year ago the food was just ok. My wife and I had told them we were celebrating a birthday and was seated... outside. It was raining a bit and cold. Food was a bit on the salty side that night. Went again last month for our anniversaryas it was where we were originally supposed to have our wedding reception before Covid postponed everything. This time we had amuch better experience. Seated inside. Food was on point. We had the wine tasting flight. Was also brought 2 complimentaryglasses of Prosecco for our anniversary. Wow! My friend and I were wandering Yaletown and totally judged this book by its cover. It has such cute vibes with live music... by the door. Usually I get disappointed with spots with such cute ambiance but this spot surprised me. We started with thescallops over fried rice, and the flavors were so unique. You usually find scallops over risotto, but the duck fat and slightlyasian flavors really made this dish feel like a unique and elevated classic. I could have just had 2 of these as my main andfelt satisfied. For my entree I had the local halibut featuring heirloom tomatoes. This dish had a much fresher taste but alsonailed the flavors in terms of tastiness and uniqueness. Wow, I am impressed! The service was also top notch. We have our anniversaries at Brix & Morter. This year again food was great. But our server Germain made me feel…invaluable and... invisible. Starting from the beginning, he introduced himself and told us the specials only facing my partner. The entire night,he would only interact with my partner. I tried not to take it personally but when we were settling our bills which wereseparate, again he only thanked my partner. Was my tip amount not enough to be thanked as a guest..? The only time he facedtowards me was when he was taking my order and handing me the credit card machine. I used to be a server myself for a number ofyears so to me I have high expectations especially at a restaurant like Brix & Mortar. But at least thanking each guests in theend I believe is a basic to any human interaction and not a lot to ask for. Food was great though as always. One more note, wewere seated by a table where they keep their spare utensils and cups and napkins etc. during my meal at one point one of theservers pulled the chair behind me quite aggressively to move it over which resulted on hitting the frame of my chair whichstartled me.
