My recent experience was a good sushi meal that is the best in Toronto. I wouldn?t go as far as rating this meal better than... sushi masters in Japan but being a local wanted to try this experience. Positives: - the chef allows and helps in givingclients the best pics - being a small space it is intimate and they interact with their clients - liked all the Japanese touches- rosé mouthwash from japan, beautiful sushi countertop, etc - the portion size was decent and loved use if charcoal grill - myfavourite dish of night was charcoal grilled cod melted roe - i was happy with their suggested sake based on my tastes - mucheasier to get reservations here from tock than other popular global restaurants Negatives- for the price point this should be adestination while as a local who eats globally this wouldn?t make my personal top 10 - i am personally a big fan of sushimasters in japan due to their craft and simplicity and this was more modern in approach with a lot of higher end garnishes suchas white truffles which overpowered the beautiful tuna. - the staff really tried their best and had a wonderful attitude butthere were some minor flow issues- for this calibre of restaurant shouldn?t exist - there was obvious spelling errors on themenu- ie york instead of yolk Final notes: - i would suggest saying its a special occasion because that appears to be the onlyway to get the special dish. Personally i felt this was done in an impolite way- making us watch them prepare the melon dishwith special cognac and giving us a running commentary without offering it to anyone except those people. I would suggest theyoffer it to everyone at a supplement or privately give those guests the dish or something to take home - overall i am happy totry this place and would recommend it to people who want top Japanese meal in Toronto but wouldn?t suggest a trip to Toronto forthis restaurant Read more

I had the best experience, from the food to the atmosphere and staff. They all work so well together, the service was above and... beyond, the food was exceptional, and the tea was literally the perfect temperature throughout the entire night. I had the bestbirthday here, can't wait to go back. Read more

I wish they served the drinks while you wait. I was kinda thirsty after biking there. Otherwise it?s amazing. Considering a... similar exp in Japan costs $400 and a round trip is 3k it?s a pretty good 75% off deal. Chef and co are also very nice funnypeople. 10/10 would would buy a meal pass for future dinners to help with jokes lol. and try to ship some cool fish here fromJapan for chef to prep. Also thanks to miyuki and dude who?s name I didn?t get and the other staff and chefs for making myexperience great Read more

Left speechless... absolutely phenomenal! Came here for Christmas and was blown away. Michelin star chef with Michelin star... service. Chef Saito's humorous personality will ease you into the upscale environment. All the waitresses were detail oriented, tentative and unobtrusive. Let's not forget about that amazing food though. Just imagine, a mountain of freshly shaved whitetruffle on a bed of mouthwatering blue fin tuna. If that doesn't have you drooling, just you wait, it doesn't stop there. ChefSaito explained to us the process to make each dish in detail and stressed the importance of having the rice at a specifictemperature. He personally made each batch of rice fresh to ensure that the temperature didn't alter the taste of the fish. Itwas apparent that he was extremely passionate with what he did. Would highly recommend! Read more
