Showed up to this place, per a recommendation from a local, at around 10:30p on Saturday - at that time there was no wait. Cover... was $10 each (no fees waived for group of 6 girls). Inside is dimly lit, friendly vibe with hard-wood furniture and hipsterdecorations. The drinks seemed relatively reasonably at $9-10 each and bar service was fast (not super friendly but whateverit?s a bar). At 11, the staff went into a practiced ritual of removing all the tables and chairs from the floor to open it upfor dancing which was kind of nice and did encourage people to get up and move around. The music was popular hits but not themost basic club music I?ve ever heard. Bathrooms in the basement were pretty clean. It's a place where people go and drink and dance what else do you want. (UPDATE: I see the reply below - I am always happy to... see engaged management and I appreciate the reply) DOUBLE UPDATE: OK I take back everything this place is amazing. So manyattractive people. AMAZING STAFF. Love the friendly professional guys at the door, the girls doing amazing work with coat checkand John keeping an eye on things inside. Honestly one of the better places in TO. My friends and I (group of 10) went to The Citizen for their NYE event of a dinner and dance. I had the pleasure of booking... tickets with Anne, who was extremely helpful, resourceful and patient with all our questions prior to purchasing tickets. Duringa time of year that can be quite stressful, Anne made the entire process stress free. Thank you, Anne! Our server, Talia (Ihope I'm spelling your name right!), was wonderful. She made sure everyone had drinks and anything else needed, was veryattentive, kind and we never felt like we were waiting for service. Thank you so much Talia for making our evening a wonderfulexperience at The Citizen. We'd also like to thank the manager (unfortunately I didn't catch his name), who made superb winerecommendations and was also very friendly and personable! The food was amazing (great chefs!!), wonderful presentation andsetup. You could cut that steak with a butter knife, seriously, and I don't know how you made the mashed potatoes but they wereabsolutely amazing. If it isn't obvious by now, we were VERY impressed. Good spot but not a great choice for watching the Super Bowl The food and drinks were great, and our server Megan was excellent.... I'd recommend the Mule for a drink. We watched the Super Bowl here as we saw the Raptors game and are from out of town. Themajority of the crowd didn't seem to be aware there was a game on so wouldn't recommend for watching anything, but seems like agood place for a night out and some drinks.. s/o Megan though!!
