Tucked inside High Park, on a relatively large property, the cafe looked interesting, Though we wanted to sit at the Patio, we... chose to go indoors as there were many wasps all around the tables and were dangerously oblivious to any human threat!!! Oncewe stepped inside, like all Canadian old restaurants, it smelt of cockroaches ???? and the fake trees with fake autumn leaveswere reminiscent of restaurants shown in the movies of the '70's ???? There weren't too many people and we chose to havecoffee and some Muffins ( carrot) and cranberry scones. Both seemed old and dry. My suggestions don't visit the place after aweek end, may be the bakery section would be stale. The interesting part was the old photo gallery on the walls, depicting HighPark and Sunny Side area from the 1900's onwards. The pictures were fascinating and made the trip worth it. I found the placelittle pricey for the quality of food they were providing. Read more

Comfortable spot nestled inside high park. Food was served quickly, coffee is mediocre but good. My Turkey bacon could?ve been... cooked a bit longer but that?s a personal preference. No complaints and also nothing to rave about either. If you don?t feel upto cooking at home I would recommend getting out and dining for breakfast. Read more

Fare is family friendly and offers common diner style choices. They have a take out area with some indoor and outdoor seating,... and a dine-in with a sit down menu and table service. The patios are lovely quiet spaces with lots of shade and trees. Thisreview focuses on the take-out menu. If you want the dine in service enter the restaurant and walk toward the patio door wheresomeone will seat you. Prices are higher and Dine-in service ends at 6pm. This section covers take out. Dine-in dishes arefurther down: The fries ($6.99) are great - crispy and thick cut, with a natural sweetness. We always enjoy them with a side ofgravy ($1.49) - it?s not exactly home style gravy but tasty. The chicken burger ($8.99) is okay. It?s definitely an industrialpatty, but with a nice crispy outer coating. It costs extra to get cheese ($1.75) and bacon ($2), but the burger would be toobland without them. The rice pudding ($4.99) definitely tends toward North American sweet, but it has a nice texture and justthe right amount of plump raisins. This entire meal with a Diet Pepsi was $33.90. A bit pricy but I imagine the rent they paythe park is outrageously high. For dine-in: The steak sandwich is very good! Cooked right to order (medium, next time I?ll gomedium-rare) with freshly cooked mushrooms. Tasty and tender! Best thing we?ve had there so far. The Caesar (3.49 for aside)salad has bottled sauce and store bought croutons, but still manages to be nice. Definitely ask for extra parm on theside. The cheese and bacon burger (16.49) is NOT worth the price point. A frozen industrial patty. It?s a cozy, simpleexperience. A lovely way to enjoy beautiful weather. If you?re tired of meeting friends at restaurants and cafes you?ll findthis a lovely alternative, plus you can walk into the park with your meal and enjoy it in a number of settings (just don?t leavegarbage behind). Or come here on your own with a book, it?s the perfect setting for it. I tend to hit the trai Read more

I think it?s more $$ than $. A limited menu compared to the ones posted when I went, self service. The food is done quickly and... there?s plenty space to sit inside or outside on the patio under the table umbrellas. Had the beef burger with fries, it wasgood. Think wouldn?t have minded a sub-$5 smaller order of fries. It?s convenient for your day in the park. Read more

I'm usually not a fan of restaurants inside attractions because they tend to be overrated and overpriced. Fortunately, eating... here was a pleasant experience. The food is not too expensive and I got my money's worth. The cheese burger was soft and tenderand I got more fries than I could eat. I saw another review complaining about the lights indoors. Yeah it's a bit dim lit, but Iprefer it this way so it's actually a plus for me. However, someone needs to checkup on the bathroom stalls because they'repretty nasty.. Read more
