I would like to start by saying we have had a good experience with this restaurant for a sushi dinner from their regular menu... before, but recently we have a really...really poor experience with two orders of omakase for our birthday celebration at thisrestaurant. It is costly, and what offered simply were not justified at all. The first course, soup was too salty. Some ofcold appetizers were not fresh; the cold shrimp had some bad smell. There was 80% batter for fried oysters. It ended with agreasy fried fish neck, and a bowel of ice-cream. This was the worst experience we had for omakase. Never, ever go for theiromakase. We are extremely disappointed. Read more

Had a birthday dinner here so wanted to try a few dishes. I’d highly recommend any of the fish as it was very fresh and melted... in my mouth. The mariawase was definitely worth it for a special occasion! I’d skip the tonkatsu, although good, it’sdefinitely not their specialty. Read more

Service was excellent, the atmosphere was nice. The place was quite small but definitely cozy. We would not have been able to... have a spot if we didn't make a reservation. The food was decent. Had a salmon don, would have been nice if it had more flavorother than the sauce provided. But all in all it was pretty good! Will come back for a quick dinner again. Read more

Reignited my interest for Sushi. Pictured is their large Sushi & Sashimi platter. $100. It's a good spread for the cost. It was... definitely was not enough for 4 people, but it was great for trying what this place has to offer. I really love the bells andwhistles put into the platter. The decoration was thoughtful. The addition of Shiso leaves and pea shoots made the eatingexperience more fun. They also provided what I think is soy sauce infused with Dashi. It paired well with the fish. The way somepieces of fish were cut or torched shows that they are trying to elevate the experience -it feels modern yet remainingtraditional. The epitome of the experience however was the rice. Everyone agreed that more Sushi than Sashimi would have beenbetter. I typically order Sashimi over Sushi because the rice does not add much to the experience. It was the first time everthat the rice actually enhanced the flavour of the fish -I would go as far as to describe the combination as a gestalt. Ihaven't had Sushi in a long time because there is only so much that can be done with raw fish. After trying Sushi from Japango Ifeel a sense of excitement welling up within me to try more of what they have to offer. I'm not awarding the full 5 starsbecause there are many such places in Vancouver that offer the same quality, but with more variety (especially in their optionsfor cooked food), and more creativity + innovation to traditional nigiri. Japango does stand out in that their rice is betterthan any I've tried in Vancouver. I still have yet to come across a Sushi place in Canada that offers Chutoro. Read more

Silky smooth and delicious, this place is cozy as hell, reminding me of a legit hole in the wall sushi restaurant taken straight... out of Japan with equal quality. We got the torched otoro and the deluxe sushi dinner, which was just perfect portion wise, andI thought visually appealing as well. As far as sushi restaurants go, this is way more than solid and would recommend to gocheck out. You absolutely need a reservation or you have to be there at the right time, as this place only seats 20 people total(or so). Read more
