Reservation. At 715, seated for 7 people, we ordered our meal within 10 minutes of sitting, received our appetizers fairly... quickly, probably by 735, french onion soup and beet salad, salad was great onion soup was tasty but not hot. Then we waited forour 4 steaks...and waited, and waited, the server came over at 8 and asked, so can I interest anyone in dessert? We told herthat we haven't even received our mains yet, then she said oh no, I'll see what happened, then we watched her go to 3 othertables before going back to the kitchen. 815 she brought out the serving tray saying they were just plating it. It wasn't until840 before the steaks came out, 2 of which were cooked well and 2 were over cooked. We ate them anyways because it had alreadybeen too long and the kids were hungry. The food itself was good, aside from steak being overcooked. Flavour was still nice.Server barely came by to check on us and it wasn't until time to pay where she struck up a conversation, I don't know if it wasintentional but it always feels fake when a server is nice when it's time to pay. The Sawmill has always been an amazing dining experience, I celebrated my 18th birthday at a location in Edmonton many many... years ago. My husband surpised me for my 50th birthday by taking me to The Sawmill in Stony Plain. After 32yrs it was just asfabulous if not better than I remember. When we arrived we were taken to our table and he had arranged for a stunning bouqet offlowers to be on the table for me?? Our server was nothing short of perfect!! She was Very friendly, attentive, and had a smilethe whole time. The the food was amazing! I was so surprised at how fast the kitchen put out the food. We had crab stuffedmushrooms that were to die for. They had so much flavor, cooked to perfection! We both had the Prime Rib with shrimp skewers. Itwas just as good if not better then I remembered. It was cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth. The red skinned garlicmashed potatoes were to die for and surprisingly the veggies were cooked perfect and had delicious flavor!! I was pleased to seefull plates. They have not scaled back serving size like many other places have in recent times. Because It was my birthday Ireceived a desert on the house. I ordered the Baileys Brule. It was to die for!!! A perfect finish to our meal. It was light yetthe flavor was unbelievable!! ?? I love how they still have the old pictures and huge saws on the Walls. ???? It was one of thebest dining experiences we have had in a very long time! The staff was great. Promptly took our order very friendly! Our food was prepared fast. First time the food came out my dish was... wrong. Promptly took both away and returned shortly with my meal. The food was good. My complaint is that it was my birthday dinner and I mentioned it was my birthday on the reservation as well... as to my waitress and she just gave me a blank stare. I overheard two other people celebrating birthdays nearby and they weregreeted very warmly and made to feel special which my waitress couldn’t even make a single effort. Fast forward to time topay, my boyfriend had a gift card for 200 dollars and she just “didn’t know how to use it” and we ended up paying the 300dollar bill because we were in a hurry. I don’t understand how a waitress can just shrug her shoulders and just say shedoesn’t know how. I feel for the money we paid, we could have gotten a better experience somewhere else. I never give bad reviews. This situation was terrible. Our food took close to two hours. It then came out cold and dry. We were... having a great time though and weren't bothered by it. Rather than offering any kindness or comping a round of drinks, or at thevery least taking the steak off the bill that was returned (a decison was made not to reorder since it took so long the firsttime) the manager took away the 18% gratuity from the server. Which is an absolutely terrible way of dealing with the situationand made us all very upset. They were short staffed. That was in no way her fault. She did a good job and of course we took careof her. When we tried to talk to the manager, he yelled at my sister and told her if she didn't like the way it was handled toleave. The manager is a disgrace. I feel terrible for the people that work there. Read more
