Great location on Water Street. The ambiance was perfect as we ate on the patio. This was our first night out in Newfoundland... and the Blue on Water made it a memorable night. Out of the 5 provinces we visited our server Hayley was the friendliestwaitress of all the restaurants we visited. She was amazing! She was extremely accommodating and was very personable, so much so2 weeks later my son is still talking about her. The food was delicious. The seafood pasta we ordered was very fresh, hot andyou can tell the pasta was made from scratch. Mixed with a bottle of Malbec, I could have stayed there all night! My sons burger(which they got out early for us) had me second guessing if I ordered correctly (looked so juicy ? What an amazing place - this hotel and restaurant epitomizes East Coast hospitality and warmth. Their attention to detail is... impressive and the restaurant is excellent both in terms of food and service quality. Location is perfect for wandering theharbour, the shopping district and the pubs on George St. Every staff member we encountered was attentive, friendly, andhelpful, but a special shout out to server Molly who went out of her way to make us feel welcome and taken care of, andproprietor Sully who did everything we needed to make our stay perfect while doing it all with the warmth of welcoming friendsto one's home. First time in St John?s and wasn?t sure where to stay. So so happy we picked Blue on Water. Restaurant below was amazing. Room... was really cool!!!! Bed was comfortable which was a really great thing for us!! Wifi was very good. Shout out also to the staff.They genuinely seemed happy to take care of us. And they seemed to love their jobs! Overall I?d say we found the perfect spotfor us!! All the main pubs and music were right here within a minute or two! Special thanks to the manager/owner Sullivan.Always a smile. Always remembered our names and was so helpful!! Even jumped in my car on the first day and showed us where theparking was. (He even carried the heaviest suitcase for us) Thanks again everyone!! Great atmosphere with exposed brick, open windows, a beautiful wine cellar and a very friendly staff. I ate perfectly seared... scallops with risotto. I think the prices were fair and overall a great experience. I would highly recommend and will likelycome again. I only ate in the restaurant but based on the experience would be happy to stay in the hotel. Read more

Waitresses need a major lesson in customer service. I was there yesterday and the first of a party of 5 to arrive. I was happy... to meet up friends that I never seen in years. I sat at the first come first serve table on the patio and grabbed a beer whilewaiting for the others. Two waitresses were trying to kick me off the patio despite already having a beer ordered and it beingon the table. One of the waitresses was accusing me of lying to her about the others coming in my party and stated I was holdinga table. Another waitress came over and said it is first come first serve and I was like perfect I am here sitting at the tablewith a beer so I?m clearly the first here. I guess they must expect you to all arrive at the same time. Had to speak withmanager which he said was fine because I had a beer ordered. Neither waitress or mgmt apologized and was charged full price. Tipwas obviously reduced as a result. Other than waitress accusing me as a liar and not letting that ruin everything the food wasgood.
