Our guacamole (more like diced avocado) in the left and what Jack Astors advertises on the right. Our Cesar on the left and... what’s advertised next to it - little Clamato and watery. Ordered Pad Thai, it came out almost 10mins after all the otherdishes but with rice and wasn’t told. Normally I would take it, but the eggs were preformed similar to a Japanese tomago….?Was cold. Manager came by and apologized and offered a replacement for a new dish. Ordered Buddha salad. Manager brought it outand apologized that they were out of nuts, unbeknownst to her. Burger came out without any condiments or dressings. Asked forit and was charged for an extra burger. Extremely disappointed with what should be quite a simple experience. Read more
You know what you're getting when you come to Jack's - there's locations all over the place. Food is good - typical pub fare... with a twist, good drink selection. Not particularly inspiring - but let's face it that's not why you go to this restaurant. Yougo to get a consistent and good experience, which it delivers on. The big difference with THIS Jack's is that it has a beautifulharbour view - only a small handful of restaurants have this particular view and this close to the harbour in St. John's andthis is one of them. I had the hot chicken sandwich - I loved it! The chicken was crispy on the outside but very very moist andtender on the inside - that's the key to fried chicken and they nailed it. Good portion size. I also drank some of the localbeer while here. A great experience if Jack's is what you're looking for. If you're looking for the authentic local experience,or course go elsewhere there's plenty of nearby options. Read more
In fairness, we stopped in for a snack - and were very happy! We had a couple of drinks and the "cookie ate my brownie". It was... right near the Iceburg Quest Ocean Tours so really convenient for passing time. Service was great! We had fun! Read more
Jack Astor’s is a must to try in St. John’s. I’ve been enjoying its holy smokey burger, cheddar soup, and truffle fries... for the past 5 years. The burger is still the 1st in my list of burgers in city???? (ask for it without jalapeño if you don’twant a spicy food) The best experience we had goes back to the day we got our food with 1 hour of delay (with 20 minutes waitingto put our order). The restaurant was super crowded in a Friday evening and things were mixed. However, the waitresses did veryfriendly apologies several times, also offered us a free desert at the end, and made us feel respected and cared as costumers.That meant a lot to us, and made us want to be back as always. All those three are very salty. They change the beef burger. The no seasoning beef burger tastes good. I found one piece of... broke plate in the pasta and they gave me 70% off. I will continue going this place and look forward to have a betterexperience. Read more
