It was fine. The food was pub food. Not bad. Nothing amazing. The staff were nice enough. There were a bunch of rowdy young... people hanging out by the door outside though, making it a bit less welcoming. Read more

A newly permanent resident of Ottawa. Barley Mow has been around for a long time since my university days back 13 years ago. To... experience it again with a new perspective and appreciation for quality of food impresses me even though it is a bar and pubfood. The palette is new with a sense of its traditional flair. Went with our family today on a Wednesday. Sat by re manager, server came quickly to get our drink order. Drinks came out... quickly and our food order was taken. All of the food came out quickly, prepared well. Portions were very large (it barelylooked like we ate the poutine at all). It was so nice to have quick service with a little kiddo. Food was excellent. Servicewas very good. Though the regular prices for plates isn't cheap, value is reasonable and the happy hour and daily specials arevery good value. We've been back a few times since my original review, and each time has been better than the timebefore. ---original review (was precovid) below--- Came in on a Sunday, lots of tables available. We were greeted quickly andthe server was very friendly and engaging. Got some menus and ordered some festive green drinks and food (an app for her, and aburger for me). App came out first and server promptly checked on us to make sure all was good. Just assumed the burger wouldcome out after. It never came. After drinking our drinks, and waiting another 15 mins, the server came back and I asked aboutthe burger. She seemed surprised and said, "Oh, was there a burger? You didn't get it? I'll go check." Frustrated after 45 minsI indicated that I didn't want to wait longer, and just wanted the bill. Paid and left. No apology or explanation of whathappened. No apolgoitic visit from the manager.
