Not sure if it was an off night. But if you ever had real italian food before, you will be extremely disappointed. Every dish... we had was barely edible. Pizza is a pita, pasta was tasteless with absurd amounts of black pepper and was acidic. We were fourpeople and not one thing was good and we all ordered different things. Surprised to see this place was so busy. They definitelycater to a certain older clientele. Sitting outside on the side terrace you get whiffs of dumpster. La Piccola is a gem hidden away in the North of Montreal. It's the kind of well developed and popular establishment you expect... of a downtown eatery, tucked away where only the locals can find it. Food: A fusion of Italian and French, the menu at LaPiccola offers classic options like pizza, veal marsala, and chicken cordon bleu. Personally I think it's a waste to go to anice restaurant such as this only to then order a pizza, but the pizzas are quite good and will satisfy a picky eater or yourchildren. The main plates are very well prepared and presented. I often say you can judge the quality of the food you are aboutto get by the quality of the bread that is served beforehand. La Piccola more than passes this test with a delicious Frenchinspired white bread served with butter. My favorite dish here is the veal marsala, it might be the best available on theisland. The reason this establishment gets 4 stars from me is that the desserts don't live up to the quality of the main dishes.They are acceptable; but after such an amazing meal it's disappointing to get an average dessert dish. 4/5 stars forfood. Atmosphere: The interior here is a bit dark/gloomy for my tastes, but very few people come here to eat inside. What makesLa Piccola magical are the two terraces where you can eat outdoors in a cozy and comfortably lit exterior. 4/5 stars foratmosphere due to the interior. Pricing: This restaurant offers high tier meals at mid tier pricing, and that's a win. Nearlyevery main dish is exactly $22. 5/5 stars for pricing.
