I am writing this review in response to a review made by MIKE COOK. Because I also review food. I would advise ?food critics?... to first familiarize themselves with the cultural background of the food they intend to critique otherwise, it is irresponsibleto speak publicly on how bad or good a dish is. For example, whenever I sample food that I don?t like I say, ?I am not awareof how this is supposed to taste however; it?s not for me???. Food is not necessarily bad simply because you don?t like it. Idon?t like chicken pot pie ???? that does not make it bad. I have been a customer of Charlie?s from the day they opened. Canadais multi cultural consequently, taste in cuisine vary. Some spices are an acquired taste, when tasting cuisine from othercultures. Even if you tasted a dish one way, another Caribbean island will present the dish differently, due to variances inspices that differ from island to island. I cannot speak for Mike Cook?s taste but as a person from the Caribbean withexperience in Caribbean spices, Charlie?s is Caribbean soul food. It?s my comfort food. In our neighbourhood we respond whenvisitors to the area misrepresent our community because; representation matters. In closing, I am about to have my favouritewings from Charlie?s. I special ordered with ?suicidal level spice? to suit my taste. Shout out to the cooks and the entirestaff at Charlie?s Caribbean Restaurant. Got the curry chicken roti and Jerk chicken roti, curry chicken was amazing but the Jerk chicken tastes different than we... thought but the chicken was still very juicy. Very disappointing, how far have they have fallen. Ordered curry goat and rice lunch special for $7.99, good price, but... terrible food, no taste, lack of salt and other seasoning. The doubles again lacking in seasoning and the bara was chewy, barashould melt in your mouth. Will not be going back. Read more
In mississauga getting my nails done. Left home in a rush was very hungry asked my spouse to get some food he bought two meals... curried goat rice and an oxtail with rice Cole slaw .only thing palatable was the coleslaw. Both meals had no flavor. I'm sureit couldn't be a Jamaican in that kitchen won't get my money again. Will continue to support the grocery store but not therestaurant. I told my hubby he should should have returned the food wasted extra hard earned money. Do better change the cookget a chef. Read more

that hot sauce will burn your face!!! This place is definitely a go to for some West Indian cuisine! The noodles is always cook... fresh and the meat is always succulent! Ambiance and atmosphere leaves a bit to desire. So you?re best to just take yuh food togo! The quality though can?t be beat! And that pepper sauce! I dunno if there?s a match for it in the city!
