Tabaq is a Pakistani restaurant located in a food court of the Newin Centre Mall. The restaurant serves halal food, and... vegetarian options as well. It's a very unassuming location, and most, if not all the patrons in the food court are there forTabaq. There are other restaurants, however the line is always in front of Tabaq. Don't expect much in atmosphere as you'resitting in a food court, and even the plating/trays are at a minimum. However, don't let this take away from the immense qualityand value of the food at Tabaq. We had the breakfast which was about $7 per person, and it comes with Channa, puri, yogurt, andother assorted sides. It's very fresh, hot, and incredibly delicious. Would absolutely come back again. The goto place for Pakistani style nashta. Despite the location and ambience, the food is excellent and consistent. The owners... could invest in a order ticketing system given how chaotic it gets on special occasions. Most do takeouts only but if you wantto dine in then bring some sanitizing wipes for the table and chairs which are frequently used by the homeless as well. Read more
Tried halwa puri. It was served in a thali. Only one portion for the potato curry, one portion of the chana curry and one... portion for the halwa. Rest all was filled with different kinds of pickles. I would have expected to serve majority of the thaliwith the potato curry and the chana curry as not everybody likes to eat pickles. The best place in all of the GTA for authentic puri chanay. Even though this store is in the food court of a run down mall, it... drives hundreds of people every weekend for their phenomenal breakfast special. I have tried to find puri chanay as good asthere's all over the GTA but have always come back, rivaled only by those made in Pakistan. The staff are super nice andgenerous. The price is extremely affordable. The location isn't great (as it is a food court) but most take food home anyway. Ihave only mentioned the puri chanay above, but that is not to mean that their other food is any less good, the prior just beingmy personal favorite.
