I'll start with the good. Sitting on the shaded patio, away from the main road, at 31 deg was quite pleasant. The reason for the... one star review is essentially that the food was bad. There were surprisingly few dinner options. The burgers had so muchmustard on them I couldn't even taste anything else. The kids didn't care much for the mac and cheese (which should be an easywin) and my wife commented that the fish and chips was also pretty bad. My margarita was badly mixed and was mostly ice. Withall the amazing restaurants in Edmonton, I think they will have to mix up their menu - and I know they are aiming at a classicdiner vibe, but most diners have better tasting food and more options. I also suspect the waitress knew the food wasn't greatbecause she never asked how it was. I won't be dining here again, at least not for dinner. Read more
This is a lovely little diner with fast friendly staff, a decently varied menu and a pretty neat location. Their prices are... good, especially for a citywide infamous diner, and the portions are AMAZING! My only qualm is, unfortunately, with their famousmeatloaf; if you're not necessarily a meatloaf lover (like myself), then you might not enjoy some of their menu options. Theirmeatloaf is very well seasoned and has a very prominent taste that stands out from everything else that they serve (in a goodway, in my opinion). It works well with some dishes, if it's the main ingredient (like with their 'Mom's Meatloaf' sandwich),but paired along with other ingredients in dishes like their 'Breakfast Burger', it can be very overwhelming. The 'BreakfastBurger' sandwich consists of: Ham, crispy bacon, meatloaf, fried egg, cheddar and roasted red pepper aioli. However, despiteall of the lovely ingredients listed above, the only thing I found myself tasting was the meatloaf. It definitely wasn't a badtaste but, again, if you're not a big meatloaf lover, menu options with or starring their meatloaf probably won't be a greatexperience for you. That's honestly the only thing that kept me from rating this place five stars, because other than that, thisreally is an awesome joint to stop by for breakfast/brunch/lunch. Update: Urban Diner reached out to me on IG and let me know they do have a kids menu it is just not printed and the server... forgot to offer it, so just ask for the kids menu and they will let you know what they offer. They posted a photo of their beefdip on their Instagram page and I had to try it. I get to their restaurant order the beef dip and something comes out that looksnothing like what they advertised. All fake marketing aside, the sandwich was pretty good, not the best beef dip I have ever hadbut definitely not the worst. The atmosphere wasn't great. Definitely has diner vibes but due for a bit of an update. Therestaurant was clean though and very busy for a Wednesday afternoon (so they have to be doing something right). They do nothave a kids menu, but my boy was good with me ordering a side of fries and a side of fruit. The server was great, not superchatty, but always made sure we were taken care. I don't know if I would be back for lunch or dinner, but being a diner I mighthave to come back and try their breakfast which they serve every day till 3PM. Read more

Wow. Wow, wow, wow. Urban Diner has it all - wonderful atmosphere, incredible wait staff and prices, and equally scrumptious... food. If you're looking for a diner style meal at diner style prices with explosive and unique flavors, then this is the placefor you! Their iced tea is fabulous, their hashbrowns are to die for, and everything else pairs so perfectly no matter how youorder it. Make sure to try their in house compotes, too!
