Taiyo is a Japanese restaurant hidden away in the outer limits of northwest Calgary. It deserves to be near the top of anyone's... list of excellent dining opportunities in the city. It is definitely worth a special trip. Taiyo offers a wonderful menu runningthe gamut from sushi and sashimi, through various noodle and ramen dishes, a myriad of great salads and much much more. Theservice is friendly and polite and the prices reasonable for such quality, tastiness and portion sizes. Highly recommended forin-restaurant dining. Read more
I haven't been back here for quite sometime but the service is still amazing and food quality, presentation and taste great!
Fish was poorly trimmed with skin and sinew left attached on 4 of the 6 pieces. The don bowl rice was plain, with no seasoning.... The broccoli in the vegetable tempura was half rotten. The tempura was made with fresh oil but everything else was lacklusterand questionable. Not ordering from them again when there are better places within the same proximity. They didn't use anyMishima on top of, or vinegar in the rice. The fish was hard to taste because they put it on top of lemon slices so who knows ifit's fresh. Hopefully the vegetables don't give us an upset stomach because they were old and rotten. See the attached photo ofthe rotten inside the broccoli. First time ordering for here and I'm surprisingly satisfied..usually skeptical when trying new sushi places but Taiyo was pretty... good. I go for nigiri when having sushi, rarely get rolls unless the rolls are their specialities (Like big catch). Their sushiwas fresh and tasty. Rice and fish is perfectly proportioned. I hate it when some sushi place give you a huge chunk of rice andthin slice of fish. I will order from here again Read more

Really really wanted to like Taiyo more! I ordered ramen and sushi. The ramen broth was not as flavourful as I was hoping for,... quite bland. The sushi was good but fell apart easily. Portion sizes are worth the money though, and friendly customer service! Read more
